Leave from Tokyo by Shinkansen Bullet train and see Mt Fuji enroute (weather permitting) to the city of Nara.
Nara is in Japan's Kansai region and was the first permanent capital city, offering an abundance of Unesco World Heritage Sites.
Continue on to colorful Kyoto. The picturesque garden city spared by aerial bombing during WWII is dotted with intricate gardens and Geisha roaming the pebbled streets.
Spend a day or two exploring the city and wandering toward the outskirts to see the cultural sights villages.
Return to Tokyo by Shinkansen Bullet Train on either day 2 or 3.
